Pacto – the Hygienic Waterless Toilet

The Pacto toilet’s history began in 1969 within the Nitro Nobel group. The company founded by Alfred Nobel had developed a new technique for encapsulating waste matter. One of their employees, Ove Danielsson, saw the possibility of a new application for the technique in a new type of dry toilet. After buying the rights to the invention, he launched Pacto, the “packaging commode”, as it was known in its early days.

Pacto quickly became a popular solution to the problem of sanitation in more primitive conditions.

Thousands of Pacto toilets all across the world have been sold over the years, to be used in disaster areas, in military operations and even during the Hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca.
